The Lake County News-Sun is reporting on action being taken to address the issue of odors emanating from a composting facility in Waukegan, Illinois.   The city council voted recently to ban continued processing of food material at the Nu-Earth Organics composting facility.  Since the facility opened in 2011, residents of Waukegan and Park City have complained of offensive odors coming from the plant.  Neighboring cities such as Highland Park had begun curb-side compost pick-up services that distributed the food scraps at the Nu-Earth facility, but those will now be discontinued.   It remains to be seen whether discontinuing food scrap processing will improve the odor problem.

I do not currently represent anyone at this site, however  I have represented hundreds of people in impacted neighborhoods around the country in various odor nuisance cases.   To find out how Zakariah Johnson, PLLC  can help, contact environmental attorney Zakariah Johnson at 904-553-7193 or via email at zjohnson@zjohnsonlaw.com
